The Eiffel Tower is not exactly something you can miss. Soaring 300 metres above the centre of Paris, it is arguably the most iconic landmark in the world and is a must-see (and must climb!) during any visit to Paris.
The Louvre is not only an historic monument, but a national museum and central landmark of Paris. You could easily spend a week exploring its paintings, sculptures and exhibits, including the Mona Lisa, the statue of Aphrodite and the Venus de Milo, but we recommend you choose a time and day when queues are likely to be shorter.
Another one of Paris's most visited attractions and iconic landmarks is the magnificent Arc de Triomphe. An architectural wonder, it was built in recognition of one of France's greatest leaders, Napoleon Bonaparte, and a climb to the top affords spectacular views and a great photo vantage point of Paris.
The Champs Elysees is renowned as the world's most beautiful avenue. Running an impressive 1910 metres from the magnificent Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, it is host to several spectacular events, including the Tour de France, and is lined with hundreds of fantastic shops, hotels, restaurants, bars, cafés and nightclubs.
Paris is home to a number of beautiful and famous cemeteries, including Pére Lachaise, Montmartre and Montparnasse. Père Lachaise is the largest and most well known in the world. It is the final resting place of such famous people as Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust and Honore de Balzac, Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison, whose grave was famously danced on by supermodel Kate Moss.
