Getting Around

Car hire in Rome is unwise, unless you are planning to stay outside the city, and travel around the countryside to see such sights as the Harbour of Ostia, travelling into the city only occasionally. Most visitors are best served by public transport in Rome, although it can sometimes be crowded and roads tend to be quite congested during the day. The best way to get around is on foot, so the most sensible thing to do is to try and book a hotel close to Rome's main attractions, and walk between them.
